Power systems

PMES specialises in electrical power conversion and control products and low voltage sub-systems for naval vessels and applications where space is at a premium. Solid-state electrical power supplies are more flexible and tolerant of damage than hydraulic systems as well as being more reliable, smaller and lighter than rotary converters. Products supplied by PMES and by EMS Development Corporation include a range of inverters and converters, solid-state frequency converters, variable speed drives and bespoke power supplies as well as specialist control consoles. PMES offers a range of power-dense motor drives which use commercially available components while delivering military levels of performance. Applications include electric cruise propulsion and gas turbine electric start systems. PMES also supplies aircraft ground service systems which provide the electrical power necessary to support aircraft while they are on-board ships.
