Torpedo defence and acoustic warfare

Sonar Systems is providing and supporting the Sonar 2071 Sea Sentor Surface Ship Torpedo Defence system for the Royal Navy. This system detects and locates incoming torpedoes and provides the means to decoy or jam their homing mechanism. It also gives the captain of the ship tactical advice on ship manoeuvres. The combined expertise of Ocean Systems and Sonar Systems can provide the key elements of a hard-kill torpedo defence solution as an upgrade to existing surface ship torpedo defence systems in service worldwide. Ultra has recently conducted a highly successful capability demonstration for the US Navy. Ultra's expertise in this area includes the specialist skills of Maritime Systems and reflects the experience gained from over ten years' involvement in a joint US/UK torpedo defence programme. Both Ocean Systems and Sonar Systems produce a range of expendable and towed acoustic torpedo countermeasure devices for surface ships and submarines. Ocean Systems is the major supplier of acoustic countermeasure devices for the UK, US, Canadian and Australian navies.
